An injured man and woman were cut free from the wreckage of a car crash on a busy village road this afternoon.
Firefighters released the elderly passengers from one of the vehicles after being called to the scene in Chalfont St Giles at about 12.35pm.
The A413 London Road was closed by police following the crash with an air ambulance arriving at the scene.
The wreckage of the accident, which involved two cars, left the carriageway blocked in both directions.
The road, which was closed between Vache Lane, Pheasant Hill and Misbourne Avenue, has now been reopened.
Bucks Fire and Rescue crews, from Amersham and Gerrards Cross, helped release injured passengers using hydraulic rescue equipment.
Another woman was released from the cars before the emergency services arrived.
Police officers earlier tweeted advising motorists to find an alternative route.
