After numerous sightings and months of rumours, reports this week seem to confirm that A-list comic Ricky Gervais has bought a house in Marlow.

According to the Daily Mail, Gervais, 54, and partner, best-selling novelist Jane Fallon, 55, have spent £2.75 million on a “little country retreat”, after the star posted a picture showing the riverside view on Twitter.

The detached house, understood to be on Quarry Wood Road, overlooks the Thames and has around one acre of land.

He joins fellow comedian Russell Brand, who bought a £3.3 million riverside home just upriver in Henley-on-Thames two months ago.

BFP readers have spotted A-lister Gervais out and about in the south Bucks town over the past few months.

He was seen buying a poppy from Marlow teenager Daniel Wallis-Banbury during the week of George and Amal Clooney's wedding party at nearby Danesfield House, and has more recently been snapped out on the streets and with fans who have shared the pictures on Twitter.

The Golden Globes awards host has amassed an estimated £55 million fortune and has a property portfolio worth more than £16 million with homes in London and now Marlow in the UK, and two apartments on New York’s Upper East Side worth a combined £3.6 million, reports confirm.

Rumours of the pair house hunting in the area after spending a “beautiful” weekend there have been rife for some time.

And while Gervais doesn’t intend to move to the Marlow property full time, sightings of the TV and movie star have been a regular occurence since last year.
