A comedy Q&A with Will Duggan and Dominic Frisby ahead of their Edinburgh previews tonight at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts

Name

Will Duggan

How long have you been on the comedy scene?

About six and a half years. Six and a half long, lonely years.

Describe your comedy in 140 characters.

I’d describe it as vulnerable arrogance that sets out to teach absolutely nothing and smashed that goal. I know my flaws. Big fun though.

Where do you find inspiration? – Funniest answer always gets a prize

Mainly the M6.

If you weren’t doing comedy, what would you be doing?

I’d probably be a teacher. Or a cowboy. Or an astronaut.

What is the funniest thing that has ever happened to you?

My friend and I were walking somewhere and he pooed himself. I don’t care who you are, that’s hilarious.

What is the worst a show has gone?

A charity gig in Manchester where I was doing 15 minutes before a famous telly comic was doing an hour. The telly comic didn’t turn up (it later turned out they’d never actually booked him) and the organiser introduced me by saying ‘Ladies and Gentlemen. Who’s looking forward to XXXXXX?’ BIG CHEERS. ‘Well he’s not coming. Please welcome Will Duggan’ They. Hated. Me.

How do you deal with a joke flopping?

I sweat into my own eyes and call the audience pricks.

Who were your favourite comedians growing up?

I loved Bill Bailey, Jimmy Carr and Morecambe and Wise.

What can audiences expect at your Edinburgh preview?

An hour of great laughs and great times. (Time is laugh dependant, great laughs not guaranteed, no refunds).

That and my handsome face.

Name

Dominic Frisby

How long have you been on the comedy scene?

Yonks. 20 years.

Describe your comedy in 140 characters?

In this show I am attempting to reconcile my interest in finance and economics with my interest in comedy. No easy task.

Where do you find inspiration? – Funniest answer always gets a prize

Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs. (We have a winner)

If you weren’t doing comedy, what would you be doing?

Starring in Game of Thrones.

What is the funniest thing that has ever happened to you?

Ooh, God. Dunno.

What is the worst a show has gone?

Ooh, God. Nearly got attacked once. Had to hide in a cupboard.

How do you deal with a joke flopping?

Doing a joke about the flopping joke.

Who were your favourite comedians growing up?

John Cleese. Ronnie Barker.

What can audiences expect at your Edinburgh preview?

Thought provoking entertainment and lots of ‘Ooh, Really? I didn’t know that” moments.
