Theresa May is now on course to become the country’s next Prime Minister, following Andrea Leadsom’s withdrawal from the Tory leadership race this afternoon.

The Maidenhead MP, whose constituency covers Cookham and Bisham, is popular among constituents and is active in her role on community issues.

In the last month, the BFP has photographed the Home Secretary pledging her support for the ‘Save Poundfield’ campaign on Cookham, and rewarding a cancer sufferer for his charity work at a Marlow gym.

She is a keen supporter of outdoor activity centre Longridge, visiting staff when it was devastated by floods in 2014.

And Mrs May has also appeared several times at the new Marlow Rowing Club during its construction and official opening last year.

But now the MP, who was first elected in 1997 when the Maidenhead voting areas was created, looks set to take the keys to Number Ten after her competitors paved the way for her to succeed David Cameron.

What do you think of Mrs May’s appointment? Are you a constituent and worried over her continued commitment to local issues?
