Students from High Wycombe’s Royal Grammar School have been praised after scooping top A-Level grades this morning.

100 per cent of the school celebrated an overall pass rate, while more than 74 per cent received A*, A and B grades.

It was the first set of results for the school since new headmaster Philip Wayne took over the reins in September.

Speaking to the Bucks Free Press, he said: “This pleasing set of results is testament to the hard work of our pupils, the encouraging support of their families and our staff.

“It also gives me a very firm foundation on which to take RGS into the future.

“The school takes great pride in a sixth form ethos of independent learning, where pupils are encouraged to study beyond the syllabus to develop a strong subject knowledge from which to call upon.

“Today marks the culmination of rigorous learning and revision for RGS boys and I have no doubt that the personal successes of our pupils today will carry them forward into successful futures.

“My personal congratulations to every pupil who received results today.”

All 190 students at the school qualified for higher education places, with the vast majority having accepted their university choices.

And RGS boarders “excelled” with a pass rate of 100 per cent and over 73 per cent A*, A and B grades.

Head boy Sam Williams celebrated alongside his friends after discovering he had got three A*s and an A in maths, additional maths, economics and history.

Classmate Ameer Ismail went one better and got four A*s in maths, further maths, history and English. He has now accepted a place at Oxford.

Joining him there will be Tom Rizvi, who received two A*s two As.
