Human remains found at the side of a road in High Wycombe belong to a man, police have confirmed.
An investigation is ongoing after the remains were discovered at the side of the A404, M40 slip road, near the Handy Cross roundabout, on Friday.
They are now believed to be the body of a man, with police saying they have not yet identified him. The death is being treated as unexplained, but not suspicious.
Investigating officer, Det Insp Simone Marples said: “A post mortem was held yesterday but the cause of death was inconclusive so more tests will be carried out.
“We are still working hard to identify the person so we can inform any next of kin, however it has now been established that it is the body of a male.
“We are reviewing our missing people database as well as liaising with the local community, other police forces and partners to establish who the person is.”
A scene watch remains in place while detectives carry out their investigation, but the road is fully open.
