A SURPRISE presentation saw six delighted Poppy Appeal volunteers being awarded with commemorative medallions for their dedication to the cause.
Four members of Loudwater's Royal British Legion Ladies Section were about to head for home this week when Legion president Roland Smith called them back inside for the ceremony.
"Everyone was gobsmacked," said Floss Smith, 76, a fellow member who received her brooch for 55 years' service, last November.
Joan Bernard, of Edgewood, High Wycombe; Penny Giles, of Queensmeade, Loudwater; Eileen Reeves, of Micklefield, and Jean Thompson, of Loudwater, were all rewarded for 30 years' dedicated service selling poppies in Loudwater.
A special certificate of achievement was given to Derek Bracey of New Road, Tylers Green, and Eve Robinson, of Loudwater, for their devotion to the cause, despite not being members of the Legion.
"They've never once let us down," said Mrs Smith.
