A pub in Chalfont St Giles was severely damaged by a fire overnight.
Fire crews battled a blaze at the Miltons Head pub in Deanway in the early hours of the morning.
Firefighters from Beaconsfield, Amersham, High Wycombe and Maidenhead were called at 1.21am.
The pub, which is opposite the famous 16th century cottage of the poet and political writer, John Milton, closed earlier this year.
The roof of the two storey-building was 80 per cent damaged by fire, the first floor was 50 per cent damaged by fire and the ground floor was 40 per cent damaged by water.
Firefighters used two main jets, two hose reels, four sets of breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera to bring the fire under control.
