A man has been jailed for 15 years after he took two large knives into a High Wycombe pub and stabbed a 32-year-old in an “unprovoked attack”.

At around 3.30am on January 28 this year Alexander Elliot, of Drakefell Road in Lewisham, assaulted a High Wycombe man at Butlers Pub in Frogmoor.

The victim had to be rushed to hospital for abdominal surgery. Elliot, 24, was charged with GBH and possession of bladed articles in a public place the following day and was sentenced at Aylesbury Crown Court on Friday, May 26.

During the sentencing Elliot was described as a “dangerous offender” by the judge who added there was “no doubt” the public needed to be protected from him.

It was revealed that Elliot had previously served a custodial sentence after he was convicted of GBH and robbery during the London riots in 2011.

Detective constable Suzie Price said: “Elliott took two large knives into Butlers public house on Friday 27 January this year.

“He went onto stab the victim in an unprovoked attack, causing serious injuries which have had an enormous impact on the victim and his family.

"The victim has shown incredible bravery since the incident and I hope this lengthy sentence will bring him some sense of justice.

“Elliott will not qualify for automatic entitlement to parole, but instead will have to serve at least two-thirds of his sentence before he applies to the parole board for consideration of his release.

"Finally, I would like to thank the members of the public who helped administer first aid to the victim following the attack, the NHS staff who saved the victim's life, and all staff and officers at Thames Valley Police who worked on the investigation."
