A Costa Coffee is set to come to a south Bucks village, after new plans were given the green light.
The coffee chain will set up shop at St Peter’s Court, in Chalfont St Peter’s High Street, which was previously a dry cleaners.
The parish council supported the application, saying the coffee shop would “generate more life and atmosphere” in the village centre.
The planning officer in the case said the unit had been empty since June 2014, and that the change of use to a coffee shop would “make a positive contribution to the vitality and viability to the district centre”, attract more people to that part of the village and not “significantly harm” the amenities of residents nearby and users of the village centre.
She added that the proposal would “enhance the range and quality” of facilities in the area.
However one objector said there were already five coffee shops in the village and another one would be “damaging to local businesses”.
