A centenarian celebrated her 100th birthday this week with more than 480 cards which poured in from all over the world.

Kind-hearted staff at The Princes Centre, in Princes Risborough, launched a campaign to collect 100 birthday cards for resident Dorreen Brown, who visits the centre once a week.

Cards came in from across the world, including Australia and New Zealand, following a social media campaign.

They were presented to Mrs Brown on Wednesday this week, with manager Kim Challinor saying more were still being sent to the centre.

She said: “It was absolutely fabulous. She was totally overwhelmed. It was lovely.

”She said ‘I can’t believe people have taken the time out to go and buy me a card just because I’m 100’.”

”She was thrilled with her card from the Queen too. She just loved the whole thing.”

Mrs Brown was treated to her favourite roast dinner and listened to her favourite band as part of the celebrations.

She also had a surprise visit from her family on the day and was joined by Princes Risborough Mayor Matthew Walsh.
