THE youth club leader of Jay Turner, who died in a road accident, paid tribute to the 22-year-old, describing him as a vibrant, vivacious character.

Jay, of Piggotts Orchard, Amersham, died after he was a pedestrian in collision with a van on the A355 London Road West, last Wednesday.

A post-mortem found he died from a skull fracture and other head injuries.

Trevor Milner, leader at the Chilterns Gateway Club for young people with learning disabilities, had been a friend of Jay for seven years.

He said: "Jay was full of life and got himself involved with everything.

"The one thing that was apparent when we broke the news was that they all referred to him as their friend.

"He was really loved. He will be missed."

Mr Milner said they would be discussing with the club and Jay's family how best to mark his memory.

Jay's parents Lydia and Leslie released this tribute to him: "He was a very special person and enriched the lives of everyone he met. He will be sorely missed by all his loving relatives, friends and neighbours."

"Jay was our life. He gave so much to us and expected so little in return. Jay got a lot of pleasure from the simple things in life.

"We would like to thank Wycombe Hospital and the police for all their care, support and understanding."

Jay was born in High Wycombe and grew up in Prestwood and Amersham.

He was a Manchester United fan who liked to go ten-pin bowling with friends from the club and was a student at Amersham and Wycombe College.

His family have requested donations instead of flowers to go to the Chilterns Gateway Club, Chiltern Youth Centre, Chiltern Avenue, Amersham.
