A father died of catastrophic head injuries after falling over while walking the dog on a visit to see his son in America, an inquest heard today.
Robert John Quin, who lived in The Chase in Penn, sadly passed away during a family trip to New Jersey on August 5, two days after suffering a fall in the street.
The 71-year-old had been out walking a few blocks away from his son’s home in Woodbury Heights on August 3 when he fell on the sidewalk and struck his head.
Passers-by called 911 and the pensioner was rushed to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, where it was discovered he had suffered a brain injury, fractured ribs and damage to his spinal cord.
He sadly passed away two days later and was repatriated back to the UK.
Senior coroner for Buckinghamshire, Crispin Butler, ruled that Mr Quin died as a result of an accident at an inquest on January 10.
The cause of death was recorded as multiple injuries, including an anoxic brain injury and high spinal cord injury.
