A family from Marlow Bottom, who cover their home in thousands of Christmas lights every year, have raised more than £9,000 for a mental health charity.

The Shepherd family, whose home on Hill Farm Road dazzles every night throughout December, have been delighting families for more than 15 years with their epic Christmas lights collection, while raising thousands for good causes.

This year, the dazzling display raised a record-breaking £9,655 for The Charlie Waller Memorial Trust.

Jancis and Tony Shepherd, along with their three daughters, spend months preparing for the annual tradition, which first started in 1999 as a “bit of fun” but then became more meaningful following a family tragedy.

Speaking to the Marlow Free Press, Mr Shepherd said: “We were really chuffed to beat last year’s total especially as we lost a couple of days because of the weather.

“It’s a really good achievement. Just the generosity of people has been wonderful. It all makes a big difference. It has definitely been a successful year.”
