An elderly man scared off a masked knife-wielding burglar in his own home by waving his walking stick at the attacker.

Detectives are currently appealing for information about the man responsible for the terrifying aggravated burglary in High Wycombe last weekend.

The incident happened at around 8.25pm on Saturday, January 20, when a man entered a home in Chichester Close waving a knife around and demanding money from the victim.

The resident, a man in his eighties, then waved his walking stick at the offender who fled the scene.

No money was taken and the victim was not injured.

The offender is described as white man, in his early twenties, around 5ft 10ins tall, of slim build and was wearing a dark blue balaclava.

Investigating officer detective constable Chris Hatton, of Force CID based at High Wycombe police station, said: “We are appealing for anyone who might have any information surrounding this incident to please come forward.

“If you saw something suspicious we would ask that you please contact Thames Valley Police on 101.”
