A body has been discovered in a popular park in High Wycombe this morning.

Police were called out to The Rye, in London Road, at 8.17am today to reports of a man's body in The Dyke.

A deceased man was found in the water, it has now been confirmed by police.

Emergency services were at the water's edge for a number of hours, with forensic officers shielding the scene from onlookers with boards and blue sheets. 

Work is taking place to identify the man.

His next of kin has not yet been informed as a result.

A large part of the park, including The Dyke and nearby children's play area, has been cordoned off with police and forensics currently at the scene.

Detectives have not confirmed if the incident is being treated as suspicious or not.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing around eight police cars, along with a number of ambulances and fire engines at the park this morning.

It is the third tragic death at The Rye in as many years. 

The body of 30-year-old Barry Ward from Marlow Bottom was discovered in The Dyke in front of horrified families during half term on October 27, 2015. 

On April 25, 2017, the body of Daniel Howard-Prince, from Broad Street in Chesham, was recovered from The Dyke.
