A Mother’s Day service for parents who have lost a child was forced to be postponed after heavy snow hit south Bucks last week.

St Peter and St Paul’s Church was set to run its fourth annual Footprints service last Friday (March 2) but it had to be cancelled due to the adverse weather.

The event, which is for which is for anyone who has lost a child at any stage of life, from pregnancy to adulthood, has now been rescheduled for Friday this week (March 9).

The service is also for anyone who has been affected by such a loss, whether parent, grandparent, friend or family member.

Reverend Sue Morton, associate priest at the church in Henley Road, said: “Footprints was too important a service to cancel as we want to offer love and support to bereaved families in the lead-up to Mother’s Day, a time of year that can be particularly painful following the loss of a child.

“Just as each snowflake that falls is unique, so is each child and Footprints is about offering a space to remember your child, to light a candle and the opportunity to light a candle in his or her memory if you wish.”

There will be music, readings and prayers included as part of the service, and refreshments will also be served.

It will start at 7.30pm. For more information, contact Rev Morton on 01491 639286.
