A Great Missenden councillor has spoken of his shock after two sexual predators attacked a woman in the village on Tuesday night.

A woman in her 20s was walking along Nags Head Lane, in Great Missenden, on April 24 between 11.45pm and midnight, when she was approached by two men who pushed her to the floor and sexually assaulted her.

An underpass near the railway line at the end of Nags Head Lane, on Windsor Lane, and the cricket ground in Nags Head Lane were cordoned off while police investigated.

Cllr Peter Martin, county councillor for Great Missenden, said he was “horrified and shocked” to hear about what had happened.

He said: “I can’t believe that something like this would happen here. It is very distressing for everyone involved, the victim and her family as well as residents who are understandably shocked.

“No one would expect anything like to happen here – I’m keen to speak to the police to see how we can investigate exactly what happened.”

Senior investigating officer, detective inspector James Mather, of Force CID, based at Aylesbury, said: “We are in the early stages of an investigation after a woman was sexually assaulted.

"The victim is being supported by specially trained officers and members of the public may see an increased police presence whilst we continue to investigate."
