The final estimated cost of the redevelopment of Gerrards Cross police station has increased by more than £2million.

Last year the police station was bought by South Bucks District Council for £4.2 million with a view to turn it into 34 flats - 40 per cent of which will be classed as affordable.

The initial build cost estimated in 2016 was £5.3 million, however following detailed site investigations and design work the development is expected to cost £7.8 million.

Original overall costs were later estimated by a contractor to be £8.5 million – however this figure was reduced based on the assumption savings would be made through a number of design efficiencies.

A detailed business case will be presented to SBDC’s cabinet before construction begins – subject to planning permission.
