The M40 is finally reopening - hours after a lorry crashed into the central reservation and shed its load.

All lanes on the London bound carriageway were closed after a lorry crashed into the central reservation at J2 A355 (Beaconsfield), with vehicles queuing back to J5 A40 (Stokenchurch).

They have now reopened and delays are clearing, Highways England has said.

The incident happened at around 7am and Transport for Bucks said the road was expected to be closed for around three to four hours.

Some of the lorry’s load spilled onto the northbound carriageway which was affecting lane four until 7.35 am.

Drivers were being advised to take alternative routes and buses in the High Wycombe and Beaconsfield areas were subject to "serious delays."

Bucks Fire, which was called out to the scene, said no-one was trapped or injured.
