A centenarian who worked for the royal family as a young woman marked her milestone birthday with a big party.

Alice Allen turned 100 on April 15 and the momentous occasion was marked at Ryeview Manor Care Home in High Wycombe, where she lives.

Rita Sileno, who works at the care home, said Alice was “delighted” with a birthday card from the Queen on her “very special day”.

Alice celebrated her birthday with her family, friends and staff, including grandson Mathew Conrad-Jones, who was by her side as she blew out the candles on her cake, and home manager Clare Livingstone.

The care home, in Keep Hill Road, was also decorated with balloons, banners and posters celebrating the occasion.

Alice also received flowers, presents and cards, before she blew out the candles on a large birthday cake and partygoers enjoyed a buffet lunch.
