A Bucks MP has paid tribute to her "staunch friend and valued mentor" who has passed away after tirelessly serving as the president of the Chesham and Amersham Conservative Association.
Dame Cheryl Gillan has worked closely with Hylton Oberst throughout her time as MP for Chesham and Amersham and has spoken of her sadness at his death.
Paying tribute, she said he would be "sorely missed".
She added: "After a distinguished career, when he should have been luxuriating in retirement, he continued to play a major part in local Conservative politics.
"His leadership and wise counsel was appreciated by all who knew him and his wicked sense of humour and wit shone through all his dealings.
"He loved nothing better than to have a long lunch over which he would air his views on the latest policy developments, the politicians responsible for them and catch up on the 'political' gossip.
"His guidance, sensible advice, passion for Conservative politics and his kindness will be missed by all who knew him.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Hazel and his family who all meant so much to him."
