TREES lining Marlow High Street are to be replaced due to their poor condition. Marlow Town Council is liaising with tree officers from Wycombe District Council and Buckinghamshire County Council to arrange for trees to be removed and replaced at a cost of between £60 and £100 each.
Cherry trees that currently line the High Street are no longer considered to be suitable because of their age and the problem of their roots spreading below ground and uprooting the pavement.
Turkish hazel trees have been proposed to be replanted, but at a Planning, Environment and Transport committee meeting on Tuesday, town councillors recommended that the tree officers consider spring flowering trees to continue the tradition of the High Street in blossom.
