A man attempted to abduct an 11-year-old girl in broad daylight in Amersham last week.

The girl was approached by a man in Briery Way at around 3.15pm on June 11 and he asked her to get into his car.

The man was disturbed by a woman, who advised the girl to go home.

He is described as a white man, bald, in his forties, with distinctive facial tattoos and piercings – one tattoo is described as a leaf shape on his forehead and pattern down side of face toward neck.

He spoke with a London accent.

The attempted abduction was reported to police on June 17.

Officers are now hoping to speak to the woman that intervened. She was aged between 20 and 30 years old and had red curly, medium length hair.

She was wearing a red dress with flowers on it and a purple cardigan.

Investigating officer PC Sam Summers based at Force CID at Aylesbury said: “I am appealing for the woman who came to the girl’s assistance to make contact with police on 101.

“I am also asking for anyone who believes they recognise the description of the man to make contact with us.

“Although this is a concerning incident, I believe it to be completely isolated, and no other reports have been received.

“The victim was not harmed during the incident, and I am hoping that given the description, somebody will know who this suspect is.

“You may also notice be additional patrols in the area over the coming days while we investigate this incident, and we will be liaising with local schools in the area.”
