Thousands of foodies braved the heat to attend a new food festival in Marlow at the weekend.

Around 6,000 people descended onto Higginson Park between Friday and Sunday to enjoy the inaugural Marlow Food and Drink Festival.

Hosted by the Market Square Group, the festival celebrated the “best of local, regional, national and international products”.

In addition to the food market and street food section, revellers were treated to a “feast” of entertainment, including live music and craft ales and beers.

Events director Paul Kennedy said: “For a first event we were very satisfied.

“The weather was very hot – possibly too hot – and we have found sometimes crowds don’t come out when it’s too hot.

“Friday was quiet – we were a little concerned at that point but actually it turned out fine.

“We will be coming back next year. Higginson Park is a lovely venue. We have had nothing but lovely feedback from local people.

“The people are very friendly in Marlow. I think they were quite taken with the low-key approach that we took with our event.

“We will probably look to expanding on the children’s activities next year.”
