THE hunt for a toddler's beloved beanie toy is under way after 'Ellie the Elephant' went missing in Wycombe town centre.

Ellie's owner, three year old Abbey Moore, is devastated after the toy disappeared as she shopped with mum Nadine on August 15.

The much loved soft toy is described as small and grey, and was wearing an elastic band as a hairband, and a purple tutu.

Ellie has been a favourite playtime friend for Abbey for about a year and a half and mum Nadine says that the toy had become a constant companion for the toddler.

Nadine, 34, of Southview in Downley, added: "Ellie bears all the marks and stains of a much loved toy having been buried in the sand on holidays in Great Yarmouth and being taken along to enjoy the fun of painting at preschool. She was Abbey's favourite toy.

"Her emotional value is huge.

"I walked all about town and have been phoning and calling in at all the shops we visited to see if anyone might have seen her.

"I'm clutching desperately at straws to find a way to bring her home."

The family have even tried to replace Ellie with a similar Hippo beanie toy with an added tutu but Abbey is said to have little interest in the new toy.

Nadine added: "It was only a 99p Asda beanie but a very special elephant. She's a part of our family and much missed. So I would be so grateful if anyone finds her to contact us."
