The mayor of High Wycombe helped the NHS celebrate its 70th birthday in High Wycombe this month.

Cllr Sarfaraz Khan Raja visited the NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit, which is based in Albert House in Queen Victoria Road, to mark the special occasion.

The event, organised by Louise Amos, also helped raise more than £450 for Wycombe Mind.

A raffle, which was drawn by the mayor, and a cake sale completed the day, with Cllr Raja also cutting a birthday cake for the NHS.

Mark Dillon, deputy director, gave a brief presentation on the history of the NHS and its future.

Companies including Odds Farm Park, Nando's, Cake Box, Bekonscot, Wagamamas, Tesco, Wycombe Wanderers, Dominos, G'Rillers, Waitrose, Lush, The Curry Centre, Stems of Beauty, Wycombe Roller Derby, Cineworld, Waterstones, HMV, Boots and Wycombe Leisure Centre also got involved and donated to the cause.
