The importance of working together as a community was the message of the day as councillors, vicars and worshippers gathered at a High Wycombe mosque for a barbecue and open day.

Micklefield Mosque invited members of the community - including councillor Andrea Baughan and staff at the nearby Micklefield Library - to join them for the afternoon on Tuesday, July 31.

Dozens of visitors basked in the sunshine while socialising and eating.

Children enjoyed a bouncy castle while food was rustled up on the barbecue.

Haseeb Jahangir, Imam of Micklefield Mosque, said it was a “lovely day out for all”, adding that the event emphasised the importance of “community cohesion and working together as a community”.

The mosque, in Centre Approach, is run by Wycombe Islamic Mission and Mosque Trust and opened up at the end of 2016 in place of the Seventh Day Adventist church.
