A THREE-YEAR-OLD boy has died after falling into a swimming pool at a relative's home.

George Eley, from Chesham, was found at the bottom of the swimming pool after returning from a shopping trip with family on Tuesday.

George, described as a "beautiful child" by his mother Olivia, was visiting his aunt and uncle near Chippenham, Wiltshire, when the accident happened.

George was taken by air ambulance to hospital in nearby Swindon but was pronounced dead on arrival.

His body was identified yesterday by his aunt.

Police initially said George was from Chalfont St Peter, but an inquest heard yesterday that he lived in Chesham.

Residents in the village where it happened have told of their shock.

His death has been described as a tragic accident' after he fell into a relative's swimming pool.

George fell into his aunt's pool around 2.45pm in Bromham, near Chippenham, Wiltshire.

He was flown by air ambulance to Great Western Hospital in nearby Swindon but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police issued a statement yesterday saying George was from Chalfont St Peter. However, his inquest later heard that he in fact lived in Chesham with his mother, Olivia Eley.

Ms Eley, described his death as a tragic accident' and said he would be sorely missed by family.

Sailsbury Coroners' Office, which opened and adjourned his inquest yesterday, said he had returned from a shopping trip with his family before they noticed he had gone missing.

They then discovered him at the bottom of the pool.

In a statement Ms Eley said: "This was a tragic accident and George will be sorely missed by all who knew him, especially his mummy and daddy, family and friends.

"I would like to thank everyone for their love and continued support in this difficult time.

"We ask that you keep us in your thoughts and prayers."

Ms Eley added: "George was a beautiful child with blonde hair and blue eyes.

"He was a very lively little three-year-old with a great sense of humour and an amazing personality.

"He was always fun to be around. He was inquisitive, impulsive and astute in character.

"At times he could also be a monkey which funnily enough was his favourite toy and Chinese birth sign.

"He was a loving boy who was a special child of God."

Paramedics gave CPR to George at the scene before he was airlifted to hospital.

He had been staying with his aunt, Serena Dalby, at the house in Wiltshire and her husband, Craig, who is a policeman.

Martin Dunscombe, spokesman for Wiltshire Police, said: "Police received a 999 call reporting that a three-year-old boy was found in a swimming pool at an address in Bromham.

"The child was taken by air ambulance to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon where he was pronounced dead.

"The boy's family, who were visitors at the address and live in Buckinghamshire, are being supported by police family liaison officers."

He added: "There are no suspicious circumstances."

Sandra Peach, coroner's officer, said George had been identified by Mrs Dalby because his mother was too grief stricken.

Residents who live near the house told of their shock after the accident.

Neighbour, Amanda Attwood, said: "The general feeling is that this was a terribly sad accident.

"The response from the emergency services was great. I have never seen so many come so quickly."
