Police are looking for a man who escaped from prison this week.

Martin McDonagh, who is serving a sentence for burglary, was authorised to leave HMP Springhill, near Aylesbury, at around 1pm yesterday (Thursday), but failed to return at the agreed time of 2pm.

He has been described as white, around 5ft 7ins, stocky, with brown eyes and dark brown hair which is shaved.

He also has some visible tattoos, including the name Louise on his neck along with an image of a scorpion and the name Teresa on his left wrist.

People are being warned not to approach McDonagh if they see him and to call 999 instead.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is being urged to call police on 101 quoting reference number 731 (9/8).

Investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Glen Turner of the Investigation Hub based at Aylesbury Vale, said: “McDonagh has links to Oxford, so we would ask residents to be vigilant and look out for him in the city.

“He is serving a prison sentence for a burglary offence after he was convicted last year.”
