There is "clear support" for a people's vote on Brexit, the Wycombe Lib Dems have said - after members of the public had their say on a "Brexitometer" in the town centre on Saturday.

Wycombe Liberal Democrats were outside All Saints Church with their Brexitometer as part of a summer campaign by the party across the country.

The Brexitometer gives an opportunity for local residents to have their say on how they think Brexit is going and whether they think it will be good for jobs and the NHS.

Finally they were asked if there should be a people’s vote on the final deal once it has been negotiated by Theresa May.

The majority of passers-by who took part said that a people's vote is needed so the public can have a say on the final deal.

Ian Morton, from Wycombe Lib Dems, said: "The results in High Wycombe show that there is agreement amongst both leave and remain supporters that the Conservatives are making a mess of Brexit.

"However, there is still a split amongst remainers and leavers in the town over whether you think Brexit is good or bad for jobs and our NHS.

"There is clear support for the people’s vote in High Wycombe which mirrors what we have been finding across the country.

"Most people acknowledge that they now know far more than they did at the time of the referendum and want the opportunity to see if the final negotiated deal matches up to the promises that the leave campaign made.

"If it doesn’t then people in a democracy should have the opportunity to change their minds.”
