A popular food festival made a triumphant return to Great Missenden over the Bank Holiday weekend after organisers were forced to cancel it at the last minute earlier this year.

The Great Missenden Food Festival was set to make its first appearance of the year in the village in April but organisers had to cancel it after heavy downpours turned the site into a “quagmire”.

But it returned with a vengeance over the bank holiday, with thousands of foodies enjoying culinary delights and demonstrations from top chefs.

Celebrity chef Rosemary Shrager, Bake Off’s Paul Jagger, chef and food stylist Clover Hutson and Lisa Marley cooked up a storm for crowds as they took to the stage.

There were also free masterclasses, children’s cookery classes, an entertainment stage, free barbecue classes, arts and crafts and a family disco.

Foodies were treated to a number of different cuisines and children enjoyed sweet treats provided by various stalls.

Dozens of local producers also offered free samples of their products, which included a selection of fresh cheeses, sauces, oils, fudge, artisan breads, speciality coffees and even flavoured vodka and gin.
