Delayed plans to build two homes next to a Prestwood pub will be hauled in front of the council for the third time later this week.

Proposals to demolish a garage next to the Green Man in High Street and build the semi-detached homes were deferred by Chiltern District Council’s (CDC) planning committee in July.

Original proposals were previously scrapped by the council after fears were raised that the two homes would make the site cramped.

A council report published on August 28 said officers have “negotiated a revised layout” with the applicant, Punch Taverns, which will see the homes moved further away from the trees.

The new layout will provide more space for soft landscaping in front of the development, according to officers.

The report states: “This shows the proposed pair of semi-detached dwellings moved slightly further back on the site which has provided increased separation from the retained trees sited to the front of the plot.

“The set back of the proposed dwellings within the plot does shift the alignment of the principal elevation with the northern neighbouring dwellings but this is not considered to alter the prevailing character of the area, as the buildings would still be broadly in line.”

Officers have recommended the plans for approval, and will be presented to the planning committee again on Thursday.
