Travellers have set up camp at a Chesham car park.

A number of caravans and other vehicles have been seen at the Water Meadow car park, in Brook Court.

Thames Valley Police tweeted this morning to say they and Chiltern District Council were aware of the “unauthorised encampment” and that TVP would “monitor and support” the situation as required.

Travellers were seen last week at the Sycamore Road car park in Amersham last week, as well as the King George V fields and the Amersham Old Town car park.

It is believed the travellers in Chesham have moved there after leaving Amersham.

Chiltern District Council spokesman Rachel Prance said: “CDC is doing everything it can to evict the travellers currently in the Water Meadow car park in Chesham.

“Working in partnership with BCC and TVP, a landowners notice and code of conduct is expected to be issued later today instructing the travellers to vacate the car park.

“This does take time. The car park is still in operation but space is limited whilst the travellers are there.”
