A manhunt is underway after a dog was shot with an air rifle in Wooburn Green.

A woman was walking her friends’ dogs alongside the cricket pitch by the old bridge in Wooburn Park between 3.30pm and 4pm on August 28.

The dogs entered the water and a short while later, one of the pooches, a brown and white spaniel, was pulled from the water by members of the public.

The dog was injured and a vet examination confirmed that they were a result of being shot by an air rifle.

The dog is now reported to be recovering well.

Investigating officer, PC Paulina Wodzynska of Investigation Hub based at High Wycombe, said: “We are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.

“We would ask anyone who may have seen this incident or anyone who saw someone acting suspiciously in the area to come forward.”
