A village pub has been named the best for dining at in Bucks in the Good Pub Guide 2019.

The Royal Oak, in Bovingdon Green, near Marlow, has been awarded the Buckinghamshire Dining Pub of the Year Award.

It has been recognised for the sixth time by the prestigious industry guide.

Commenting on the award, Becky Salisbury, who co-owns the pub with her husband David) said: “We are over the moon The Royal Oak has this recognition for the great food, wonderful range of drinks and professional, but friendly service that it truly deserves.

“The entire team led by [general manager] James Molier [head chef] and Dave Green has such a passion and natural talent for the business, that it is fantastic to see all of their efforts receive such a seal of approval.

“The eating out scene has changed massively since we took stewardship of this Marlow stalwart – all we wanted to do was make restaurant quality food that you could enjoy in the surroundings of a lovely British pub – be that on a Monday evening with work colleagues or a full-blown Saturday night celebration with family and friends.

“It seems that we are not alone in wanting this.

“This award is also great recognition to all the suppliers who provide us with the very best ingredients.

“The vast majority of these are local to us and they should be as proud of this recognition as we are – we are genuinely chuffed.”
