A manhunt is underway after a man was threatened with a baseball bat in High Wycombe.

The victim, a man aged 50, was on the petrol forecourt of the Asda petrol station in Crest Road at around 1.30pm on Tuesday.

He was struggling to undo the fuel cap on his hire vehicle, when the attacker pulled up behind him and became verbally aggressive and threatening.

When the victim tried to explain what he was doing, the attacker went back to his vehicle, a red Ford Focus, and then returned with a baseball style bat which he had got from the back of his car.

He then threatened to attack the victim with the bat.

He has been described as being in his 30s and of a stocky build, 5ft 9ins tall with short cropped brown hair and a light brown beard.

He was wearing grey-coloured shorts and a washed out dark blue colour t-shirt.

Investigating officer PC Karen Collet, based at High Wycombe police station, said: “Although the victim was not physically harmed, this was a completely unprovoked incident which has left the victim very shaken.

“This happened in the middle of the day, and I believe people will have seen what happened.

“It is completely unacceptable to make threats of this nature, and I am appealing to anybody who believes they may have witnessed this incident, or has any information that may help in our investigation, to please contact 101, quoting reference number 43180271699.”
