More details have been revealed about an armed robbery at a village supermarket that left a cashier with a head injury.

Police are urging anyone with information about the robbery, at Tesco Express in George Road, Stokenchurch, to come forward.

At around 9.15pm on Thursday night, two people - one armed with a knife - stormed into the supermarket and demanded cash.

One of the robbers hit a cashier, a man in his 40s, leaving him with a cut on his head.

Both robbers are believed to be men and both were wearing dark clothes and had their faces covered.

They fled the area in a purple Ford Fiesta with the vehicle registration starting R304.

Two women were arrested in connection with the robbery later on in Watford by Herts Police.

A 22-year-old woman from London was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery and a 25-year-old woman from Borehamwood was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery.

They have both been released under investigation.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Daniel Thompson, of the Force CID at High Wycombe, said: “We are thoroughly investigating this incident and two arrests have been made.

“We take incidents of this nature very seriously and we would like anyone with information about this to come forward to us.

“We would especially like to speak to anyone who may have seen the vehicle described before or after the incident.

“If you think you have information, no matter how insignificant you think it could be, please contact the police."
