People who carry knives are being urged to surrender them this week as part of a national knife crime campaign.

Knife surrender bins are being placed at the front counter of 16 police stations across the Thames Valley – including High Wycombe, Amersham and Aylesbury in Bucks.

The knife surrender will run between Tuesday, September 18 and Monday, September 24, during which members of the public will be able to safely dispose of any type of knife or bladed article.

The aim of the operation – called Operation Sceptre - is to remove dangerous weapons from the street, reduce knife crime and raise awareness of the dangers and consequences of carrying a knife.

If you are worried about knife crime in your area or if you want to speak to anyone about a specific concern, call 101, go online or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
