Police in Chesham responded to reports of a snake on the loose this morning - and found a dead grass snake.
Police were called to Gladstone Road sometime before 9am on Wednesday morning amid reports of a snake in the road.
Officers reported the snake to Chiltern District Council and the RSPCA.
Sadly the reptile was dead - and was later disposed of by a member of the Chiltern District Council waste team.
Grass snakes are commonly found across the UK and are non-venomous.
