A 23-year-old fly-tipper has been ordered to carry out 100 hours of community service after he dumped building waste at a Denham beauty-spot.

Luis Rodriguez, of Yew Avenue in West Drayton, admitted to one offence of illegally dumping waste at Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on August 15.

The court heard a pile of building waste was discovered at Denham Country Park in Old Mill Road after an unauthorised traveller encampment had left the area.

Evidence found within the waste was traced back to a builder who told council investigators had had arranged for a carrier to dispose of the waste, however took photos of his truck when he became suspicious the rubbish may not be disposed of legally.

Bucks County Council investigators were then able to trace the van back to Rodriguez.

When interviewed at the police station, Rodriguez said he had attempted to dispose of the waste at a household recycling centre, however it had closed for the day so he decided to leave it at the country park.

Magistrates sentenced Rodriguez to 100 hours of unpaid community work and ordered him to pay clean-up and prosecution costs of £665.

A victim surcharge of £85 was also levied.

Cabinet member for environment at South Bucks District Council, Luisa Sullivan, said: “Often, the person who hires a dubious waste carrier keeps no record of who the person was, and they themselves end up in court.

“Fortunately, this builder had the foresight to take some pictures of the truck that took the waste away, so the investigation moved away from the builder onto the fly tipper himself."
