The Bucks Free Press today reveals the county’s least hygienic places to eat – including one run by a Michelin star chef and a pub regularly visited by a former Prime Minister.

From a cosy night in with a takeaway, to pub grub or a posh meal out, most will have plans – but are there places which should be avoided?

Above we have listed the 43 restaurants, pubs, takeaways and cafes which have been given a hygiene rating of ‘0’ or ‘1’ in the Wycombe, South Bucks and Chiltern districts, according to the Food Standards Agency (FSA).

In total, four restaurants were given a rating of 0, while 39 others were considered to be rated 1 out of 5.

Take a look through our list of restaurants above – you might even spot your favourite place to eat or somewhere you were tempted to try.

Bucks Free Press:

Twice a year, the Free Press publishes the list of 0 and 1 rated restaurants to help pur readers make a more informed choice.

In February, we published a guide ahead of Valentine’s Day – but many of those have since received improved ratings.

FHRS inspectors investigate how hygienically food is handled, the condition of the structure of the buildings and how the business manages and records what it does to make sure food is safe.

All the information was gathered from the FSA website and was correct at the time of publishing (October 26, 2018).

** = These companies have recently been reinspected and are due to receive a new rating. All reinspections take 28 days to show on the FSA website.

Why do we publish this?

The Food Hygiene ratings always cause controversy, but certainly these ratings are in the public interest.

It is an informative guide to give our readership a chance to peruse the ratings.

There are an astonishing 43 restaurants across our patch which have a 0 or 1 rating which means these eateries are considered to need to make an urgent or major improvement to the conditions they work in by the authorities.

Lists in previous years have seen some of these places work exceptionally hard to rid themselves of this tag and climb the rankings to a level which will entice people to eat there.
