TV star James Corden is supporting a homeless charity raise thousands of pounds by supporting one of its biggest fundraising events of the year.

Hazlemere’s biggest celebrity has filmed a video clip encouraging people to take part in the Dreams Big Sleepout, which will take place at Adams Park on November 24 this year.

He said in the video: “I would love for you to support it. The charity helps over 500 local people every year who are in a bad place in their lives.

“This is their biggest fundraiser of the year so sign up to take part, get sponsorship and best of luck with your Big Sleepout everybody – thank you all for your support.”

Chairboys fans are being given the unique opportunity to stay overnight at the Wanderers’ home ground next month – and to raise money for Wycombe Homeless Connection at the same time.

More than 110 people have already signed up for the sleepout, which can host up to 150 “sleepouters”.

The move to Adams Park this year is thanks to player Michael Harriman and his wife Amy, who approached the Castle Street charity last year to offer their services as ambassadors.

Speaking about the support from James, Sheena Dykes, WHC chair of trustees, said: “One of our team is good friends with James’ family, and so we asked him for a favour, and he came up trumps.

“We’re so grateful to receive such enthusiastic support, all the way from LA.”

James grew up in Hazlemere and went to Park Middle School and Holmer Green Upper School as well as Jackie Palmer Stage School in Bridge Street.

He has since gone on to be a global celebrity and continues to make a name for himself in America hosting The Late Late Show.

Besides the sleepout, there will be a big quiz with food, with tickets on offer for those not sleeping out who want to lend their support to the charity.

Spokesman Heather Morley said: “It is crucially important that people help us to raise funds.

“It’s a very sobering thought that people are sleeping rough in this cold weather.

“It’s just not acceptable. It happens for lots of reasons, many of which are very relatable.”

A smaller sleepout will take place in Marlow's All Saints churchyard on November 23.
