More than a dozen rubbish bags have been cleared from a Marlow car park after travellers set up camp over the weekend.

A number of caravans and lorries were spotted at the Liston Road car park, with one resident saying human excrement was “left everywhere” and there had been “punch-ups”.

Wycombe District Council spokesman Sue Robinson said they left the car park yesterday and the council’s waste and cleaning team removed 15 bags of rubbish and cleaned the site.

She said contractors would be putting in fencing and bollards where the recycling bins used to be, as that is where they are believed to have entered the car park.

They have now moved to the car park behind Sainsbury’s.

Sue added: “We are working with Thames Valley Police and the Gypsy and Traveller Service to assess the situation and we will then take the correct and appropriate action.

“We will update when we have more information.”
