Wycombe's MP has called for a new leader amid ongoing Brexit crisis.

Steve Baker, former junior Brexit minister has handed in a letter to request a vote of no confidence in Theresa May.

In the letter, he said: "It is clear this morning that the prime minister is determined to continue with her half-in, half-out Chequers proposal for Brexit.

"While I am clear these will be defeated in the Commons, there seems to be little point allowing the captain to continue running the shop towards the rocks and so I write with regret to request a vote of no confidence in our leader, Theresa May.

"There can be no doubt about the prime minister's many virtues: her spirit of public duty, her resilience, her capacity to listen to advice and so on.

"However, there is objectively no reason to think her EU exit negotiations will deliver a Brexit worth having and it is inconceivable she would subsequently lead us to a general election victory.

"Colleagues ought now to answer whether Theresa May should be allowed to continue taking our country down this path to failure, humiliation and later, impoverishment under Labour."

More as we get it.
