Plans to build almost 60 new homes and a village hall on green belt land to extend a retirement village have been given the green light.

Audley Retirement will redevelop part of the Epilepsy Society site, off Chesham Lane, in Chalfont St Peter, to provide an extension to the existing Audley Care Community at Chalfont Dene by building 58 houses.

Eighty new parking spaces and a village hall will also be built.

The decision to approve or reject the application was delegated to the head of planning and economic development at Chiltern District Council by its planning committee.

The Audley Group confirmed today (Tuesday) that the plans have been given the go-ahead by all members of the committee subject to the completion of a legal agreement.

Audley Chalfont Dene is currently home to 84 properties as well as the Audley Club, in Chalfont House.

John Nettleton, land director at the Audley Group, said: “This resolution brings us one step closer to delivering more luxury retirement living in the Chilterns.

“The unanimous decision of the councillors is indicative of the value they see these additional units bringing to the local area; it is a proposal that has been welcomed by Audley owners, politicians and the parish council.

“It is also testament to the team here at Audley and the quality of the work undertaken to secure this resolution.”

Kevin Shaw, Audley Group MD, said: “The group has accelerated its land acquisition in recent months to meet the growing demand in the market, across both the Audley Villages and Mayfield Villages brands.

“Developments such as Chalfont puts Audley Group at the front of the pack in the retirement village sector.”
