A woman in her 60s was threatened by a thug with a knife in a terrifying robbery at a bookmakers in Chesham.

At around 9.30pm last Thursday (December 27) a man ran into the Betfred bookmakers, in the High Street, before brandishing a knife at the woman, who was a member of staff at the store.

The attacker tried to take money from the woman’s hand. She resisted but police said he fled the shop with a small amount of cash.

He has been described as a white man in his late twenties, of a slim build and around 5ft 8ins tall. He had fair hair and was wearing a green balaclava.

Police said the victim suffered slight bruising and a scratch to her hand.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Hannah Davison, of Aylesbury Force CID, said: “We are appealing for witnesses to this incident which was a scary experience for the victim.

“We are appealing for anyone who saw or heard something that could help us with our investigation.”
