A 36-year-old man has been arrested after a cyclist was killed in a crash with a van in Amersham.

Emergency services were called out to Woodside Road, at the mini roundabout junction with Chiltern Avenue, at 6.05pm yesterday (Thursday), with the road closed by police for several hours.

Police said the cyclist, a 45-year-old man from Amersham, sadly died at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by a specially-trained family liaison officer.

A 36-year-old man from Chesham was arrested yesterday on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and was released on police bail until January 14.

Investigating officer PC Linzi Turner, of the serious collision investigation unit, said: “We are currently working to establish the circumstances in this collision in which a man sadly lost his life and I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the events or who has any dash-cam footage of the incident.
