Signs displaying parking space availability in High Wycombe now show the correct information following a £32,000 refurbishment project.
Bucks County Council (BCC) says the old variable message signs had fallen into disrepair as they could not “be maintained cost effectively”.
The signs were refurbished in December as part of a six-week project – and Transport for Bucks have online access to be able to remotely control the signs and the messages they display.
A new maintenance contract has been funded to keep the signs working for at least the next two years.
There are six of the signs along major transport routes in the town centre and all have a new system which improves the way they communicate with the car parks.
Cabinet member for transport at BCC, Mark Shaw, said: “The newly-working signs will have a positive impact on local traffic by informing and directing vehicles to car parks with spaces available.
“This will reduce time spent searching for parking spaces, reducing overall travel.
“It will also allow drivers to be better informed about parking availability in and around High Wycombe.”
