Three people have been injured after a three-car crash shut a busy road.
Police closed the A404 between Penn Street and Amersham following the serious injury crash at 6.57 this morning.
South Central Ambulance Service said one person involved in the crash was taken to the major trauma centre at John Radcliffe Hospital with critical injuries, another suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Stoke Mandeville Hospital, and the third person was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Drivers were being asked to avoid the area and find alternative routes.
Firefighters from Amersham and Beaconsfield used hydraulic rescue equipment to release two injured women.
Bucks Fire said a man was also injured but not trapped.
The road was expected to reopen at around 10.30am, but opened just after 11am.
